The Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (IIJA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) have provided significant funding and incentives to modernize and strengthen the nation’s infrastructure. Besides the traditional grant and loan programs, local governments now have access to direct pay tax credits from the US Treasury for eligible projects. The programs encourage combining federal funding with local financing and innovative infrastructure delivery approaches to accelerate projects, reduce public sector risk, and stimulate innovation and competition for the delivery of public assets.
